These “meal” options should be avoided at all costs because they are loaded with calories, and don’t provide the nutrition or energy you should be getting from a meal. Women on the go often find it difficult to lose weight when they don’t have a lot of time to make a healthy meal. Well here are five “meals” you should never eat again.

The Breakfast Muffin: Seriously? You may as well eat birthday cake for breakfast. Double chocolate, blueberry, corn, none of them are sufficient to call breakfast. Of course they’re delicious, but breakfast needs to be a well-balanced meal of protein, carbs and fat in order to get the energy you need. Muffins are just lots of sugar and fat. Ask for the nutrition facts next time you’re thinking of having a muffin for breakfast.

Waffles and Pancakes: This is another similar “meal” similar to muffins because they’re a lot of carbs and fat. When you add all that delicious maple syrup, you are putting yourself into a food coma. Don’t skip this delicious treat all together, but instead have just one pancake and make sure you have an egg and some fresh fruit with it to balance it out.

Frozen Yogurt: Who said this was a meal? Yes, it’s low in fat or non-fat, but it’s just sugar and skim milk. Also, a lot of frozen yogurt shops are self serve, so it’s hard to control how much you’re actually serving yourself. It’s best to keep frozen yogurt as a snack and keep the portions small because the calories add up quickly.

Gourmet Deli Sandwiches: This isn’t necessarily something to avoid, however it can be bad if you’re not careful about toppings, bread and serving size. Go for lean meats like turkey or chicken (not fried) and add fresh veggies like tomato, lettuce and onion. Skip the mayo and oil. Also, switch to the bread to something grainy or whole wheat.

Spaghetti and Pasta: It’s a heavenly treat that is such a great comfort food. However, this is another meal that is difficult to control portion size. Always, pair any pasta dish with a protein like ground turkey breast. To get a little more nutrition out of the meal, switch to whole-wheat pasta, and remember to make smaller portions.
